Heathrow confirms quartet for £16bn expansion plans

Heathrow has revealed the four winning bidders to act as “client partners” for airport expansion plans.

Arup, CH2M, Mace and Turner & Townsend have been chosen to help develop “a skilled, nationwide supply chain that can expand the airport on-time, on-budget, to world-class standards whilst spreading the benefits right across the country.”

Heathrow added: “The client partners have been tasked with ensuring the programme is delivered to the highest industry standards in planning, innovation and quality.”

Ian Ballentine, Heathrow Director of Procurement said: “I’m delighted that our client partners are now on board and I look forward to working with them to give the UK a truly world-class, sustainable hub airport.

“This privately financed, £16bn project will benefit the whole UK as we work to widen the supply-chain right across the nation.”

The figures are the latest from the European Commission (2006). They mean that 28% of all people impacted by aircraft noise across Europe live under the Heathrow flight paths.  The actual number would rise to over a million if a third runway was built.
