HEY GIRLS – Let’s Solve Period Poverty Together.

This isn’t a subject that you’d expect to read about from a company that sells consumables to the construction industry, a very male dominated industry sector.  However, periods are natural and talking about them should be normalised, so we’re going to talk about them.

Do you know how much it costs?

On average, women spend about £5,000 over their reproductive lifetime. That’s based on a £10 a month, every month for 40 years. This is just an estimate, some women have to spend far more if they have complex needs.

It wasn’t until 1st January 2021, that VAT was removed from period products.  Prior to this, sanitary products were classed as non-essential, luxury items!

However, 1 in 10 people in the UK still can’t access or afford period products.

Why working with Hey Girls can help?

We're so pleased to work with an organisation like Hey Girls, because for every unit we purchase an equal sum is donated back into helping fund and prevent period poverty within our communities.

Hey Girls believe that access to quality period products is a right, not a privilege. No matter your background, personal circumstances, or gender, everyone deserves a better period. They want to educate people on how poverty can look different for everyone and smash the taboo and give access to the basic care.

Since launching Hey Girls in 2018, they have donated over 25 MILLION period products to communities across the UK!

So… to start, how about making sure your female colleagues are covered!

Helping support Women in Construction

We can supply a “free vend” dispenser for every female bathroom on site, in the office or wherever it's needed; allowing access to basic period products, without the embarrassment (not that anyone should be embarrassed.).

Keeping the environment in mind and helping achieve your sustainability goals

Hey Girls products aren’t just helping women everywhere, but the planet too.  All products are in compostable or recyclable packaging, with sustainably sourced materials and more importantly don’t have plastics, perfumes, bleach, or toxins.

The “Day Pads” are made with sustainably sourced bamboo and organic cotton, both biodegradable materials.

Then, there are the “Plant Based Applicator Tampons”, made with 100% organic cotton.  And the applicator? That’s sugar cane!

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to these amazing products, but this is a great place to start.

Contact your account manager today to talk about getting this essential product on your site.
