Denham Film Studios transformed into £120m Art Deco inspired residential address

Denham Film Studios transformed into £120m Art Deco inspired residential address

Legendary film studios once frequented by Oscar-winning actors have been transformed into lavish Art Deco-inspired apartments. The new development still houses the site's restored 1930’s Art Deco cinema with velvet seats and a cocktail bar. The development comprises 224 lavish homes including 154 one, two and three bedroom apartments and 70 four and five bedroom family townhouses.

The world-famous Denham Film Studios, where Oscar-winning films including Goodbye Mr Chips were made and first screened to their directors, has become a new development built around the original Grade II listed film studio headquarters. The restored cinema features tiered seating with 32 original sofa-style chairs that have been painstakingly reproduced by interior designers, finished in velvet and sit alongside Art Deco style lamps.

Reflecting the film studio history of the site, there will be movie themed public artwork in the grounds. Plates of glass, etched with scenes from movies produced at the film studios, are planned to display in front of a rendering of Saltzman House, named after Canadian theatre and film producer Herschel Saltzman. The local council has also agreed for the buildings and streets within the development to be named after the movies, film directors and actors who once worked at the studios. Street names are planned to include Stanley Kubrick Road, Albert Broccoli Road, Celia Johnson Close, Greer Garson Road and Noel Coward Avenue.
